PAYPAL & EBAY ARE ROBBING TOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS A WEEK & GETTING AN "A" RATING?
|

WHY IS PAYPAL RATED AN "A" ON THIS BBB SITE?!! I NO LONGER TRUST THE OPINION OF THE BBB BECAUSE OF THIS REASON! IF THE WILL GIVE THESE LOWLIFE CROOKS AN "A" FOR THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES...THEY WILL GIVE ANYONE AN "A"!!! ALSO, WHY DOES EbAY AND PAYPAL SHARE THE SAME ADDRESS IN SAN JOSE? I AM GUESSING IT'S BECAUSE THEY ARE WORKING TOGETHER TO SCREW PEOPLE! THAT IS WHY PAYPAL IS PRACTICALLY THE ONLY WAY ADVERTISED TO PAY ON EBAY!! SICKENING THAT THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS BUT IT IS THE WORLD TODAY. I AM GOIG TO "CALL CURTIS" AT MY LOCAL NEWS STATION TO TRY TO EXPOSE THESE SCUMBAGS SOME MORE!

Hi Mari,
This is WAY past a BBB issue. eBay AND PayPal's unethical (and possibly illegal) business behaviors are being brought to the attention of the FTC. They both REGULARLY violates their own user agreements. They force sellers to refund customers for item not as described (although the seller has pix & description to prove otherwise), for items not delivered (although the seller has delivery confirmation; I just can't believe that many postal workers don't know how to do their job) and for counterfeit items, which PayPal "confirms authenticity" just from a written description-not even having the item in hand!
eBay makes PayPal's policies-and they both rating a resounding "F". All you others, I encourage you to write to Chris Cuomo of ABC's 20/20 program-they have an investigation of these companies started. Send your story today:

I won't sit back watch eBay & PayPal ENCOURAGE scam buyers to rob sellers. PayPal is NOT regulated by any banking system, are not insured by the FDIC (and they have your money!), and are only registered in 36 states as a money transmitter.

Nikki,
Both PayPal, Inc. and eBay, Inc. are two separate entities and therefore have two separate BBB reports. I have attached eBay's report above for you to view and below is the link to PayPal's report.

PLEASE BE ADVISED that eBay, the owner of Paypal is in partnership with the Better Business Bureau. It is strongly advised that you proceed with caution when reviewing any reports from this company. You can verify at the following BBB URL that eBay with other companies are part of the BBB's Advisory Committee for their Board of Directors, which is a clear conflict of interest. The conflict of interest is created by the fact that consumers are complaining about the same companies that are advising the BBB. BBB Advisory Committee: http://www.bbbonline.org/about/boardDir.asp

As Paul stated, Ebay and Paypal are ostensibly separate branches of the same corporation. In reality, they are not separate at all. Also, not only does Ebay sit on the Advisory Board of the BBB, but each local BBB is supported by dues from local members. Guess who pays the most dues in San Jose? The pressure may not be blatant, but is obviously there. Otherwise how could any company with as many complaints and negatives maintain an "A" rating.

William,
Thanks for pointing that out. People need to know that a "review" company such as the BBB is indeed funded by memberships...and if you pay enough for that membership, as well as having an "online dispute advisor" on board...you can BUY your rating, regardless of the facts listed farther down on their page!
Last 36 months, 7098 complaints...and while they say they've all been "answered", how are they accounting for the 691 cases that are "unassigned"??? And hey, let them hold your money for AT LEAST 21 days...or indefinitely, depending on how much interest they need to earn in a quarter to make their stockholders happy!
Everyone PLEASE look over their User Agreement THOROUGHLY, and OFTEN. They won't always tell you they've made changes, and most of the UA is completely UNETHICAL. It's why PayPal is NOT ALLOWED IN SOME COUNTRIES AT ALL, and in the UK they MUST be registered as a bank.
